UNDER MY SKIN

18 pieces each 7"x 5".  Recycled paper, clay, acrylic paint, and thread. 2023

Stretched taut across an assortment of small, clay body part-objects, a skin of paint both conceals and reveals. The surface tension provides uncomfortable contrast to the work's colorful hues, the former almost claustrophobic,  the latter reminiscent of a play-doh assortment from childhood paradoxically more evocative of play and release. These objects and skins are stitched to recycled paper made from storybooks, a reworking of narrative that allows for a reimagined reality.
