DEATH BY MANY PINPRICKS

250 x 250 cm. Wood, porcelain, rock, canvas, pins, nails, plastic, tape, cardbord, wool. 2021

Death by Many Pinpricks is a collection of six pieces installed together that irreverently translates the fatigue and figurative language of burn-out into literal objects. The vivid colors offer a visual contradiction to the works’ titles, a reflection of the dissonance driven by the nation’s best Pollyanna intentions and social media’s worst tendencies to present a carefully cultivated, on-brand facade. The inclusion of everyday household objects like a broken plate, a mop, pins, and duct tape hint at uneasy domesticity in the face of repetition and monotony, heightened by pandemic conditions.
