Toile de Jouy designs from revolutionary France were often based on events of cultural significance and printed on textiles to be utilized for apparel or decorative items, True Stories reimagines a historical narrative based loosely on a cast of characters with roots in the apocalyptic book of Revelation,. The pillowcases offer a loose reinterpretation of throw pillows from childhood in this particular shade of red. Just as Toile de Jouy offered one selective version of history, these variations offer alternative narratives that in this form are only a short step away from a semi-surreal dreamworld.
